Susan McWhinney is a lens-based artist and researcher. Her recent work addresses relationships between image and data in cognitive, networked environments within a documentary / narrative practice. She completed a BFA and an MFA at California Institute of the Arts where she developed video and lens-based installations. She later moved to NYC where she worked as an editorial photographer.  Susan has taught at Rochester Institute of Technology in the Advertising Photography program and is an adjunct professor at Rockland Community College. Her work has been exhibited and published nationally and internationally.

She lives in the Hudson River Valley with her partner and Staffordshire Terrier, Asha.
